Introduction to Testimonials

The following testimonials reflect the resilience and commitment veterans have shown in coming together to pursue appropriate mental health care and accurate evaluations. All of these veterans and spouses have worked with Mike preparing their Military History Psychosocial Assessment. Over time, these veterans have experienced challenges and obstacles, including feeling dismissed, misunderstood, or inadequately treated. In response, these veterans formed their own clinician/peer-driven organization, We Are On Point for Veterans.  For the past six years, this group has supported other veterans in understanding how the VA system works, helping them prepare for the steps involved in seeking comprehensive mental health evaluations, treatment, and disability determinations that more accurately reflect their lived experiences. Their mission is grounded in shared experience, mutual support, and advocacy. They have also created a social network that conducts outreach and gives back to the community.

The WAOP4V organization also emphasizes the importance of education and collaboration among veterans, helping each other navigate the complex VA system and building confidence in dealing with the VA process. A key focus of their work is encouraging the inclusion of spouses in both the review and treatment processes. We have found that spouses often provide critical insight into daily functioning and behavioral changes that may not otherwise be fully captured during VA evaluations, particularly in mental health and disability assessments.

Through continued clinician/peer support, education, and advocacy, We Are On Point for Veterans remains committed to helping veterans and their families participate more fully and effectively in the process of care and evaluation.
